In a city, cars roll, stop, slow down. There are accidents and road work. In this city, there is a man and a woman who have never met, who will fall in love, will separate, will find each other again. They speak endlessly of what should continue and what should end. What they say is the exact translation of traffic flow.

A software recovers Yahoo RSS feeds that follow the flow of traffic in different cities. The information is fragmented and analyzed based on a list of keywords derived from 7424 video sequences. This creates a montage that reflects the real state of circulation.

Inspired by J.G. Ballard, Circulation elaborates a parallel between lover’s discourse and the flow of cars, because this has changed our notions of intimacy and our imagination. Everything happens as if the dialogue between man and woman were becoming permeable to a series of outside events, following a counter-intuitive hypersensitivity. The unpredictable fluctuations of a meeting, of love, of separation, and of sadness, are products of an arbitrary translation. The dialogue between lovers is never-ending and variable, it escapes coherence because traffic circulation never ends.

50 people listen to 'The People' by WB Yeats on a London street. Choose who listens and the soundtrack of voiceover, music and atmosphere they listen to.

In The People I have reconstructed film audio through the component parts of atmosphere, music and voiceover soundtracks. They, along with the image they temporarily serve, are open to user combinations through an interface. In this way, the very contingent mechanics of sound in film and our responses to it are laid bare. The multifarious combinations do not offer us the terra firma of a soundtrack firmly grounding the image. Instead we see how the ear selects, experiments and dictates to the eye.

The 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou, China in November 2010. Guangzhou will be the second city in China to host the games after Beijing in 1990. This year will be the largest Asian Games ever. The film documents one-day activity of a housewife in the city going through different site of the neighborhood. It explores how the change of Guangzhou city effects its people daily life. The camera goes behind the publicly exposed scenes of this competition, revealing the disruptions and environmental transformations of redevelopment and reconstruction in Guangzhou prior to this important yet short-lived pan-Asian event. The China government values their globe image by their physical appearance of a host city to a very high degree. They want to transform the old city to a modern international urban city to show their powerful economic status to the world. In fact the world are seeing the humanity issue is getting intense that Chinese local people are not enjoying their lives when they going through physical and mental suffering at their hometown. While the event itself is publicly celebrated as a symbol of harmony within and between the countries of Asia, the spectacle of an esteemed presentation takes propriety over the domain of inhabitants and the security a stable, known urban environment.

Render of part one of the Collapse of PAL (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the blue plains of phosphor). As performed at TV-TV on the 25th of May 2010, Copenhagen, DK. The video work is based on analogue signal, compressions, glitches and feedback artifacts in sound and video.

For this part of the 30 minutes video, I used a NES, some image bending and a broken photo camera (CCD chip is loose) &&. For the sound I used a cracklebox, feedback, a telephone and a couple of DV-compressed videobends.

In "The Collapse of PAL" (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the planes of blue phosphor), the Angel of History (as described by Walter Benjamin) reflects on the PAL signal and its termination. She concludes that in the end, the signal still exists as a trace left upon the newer "better" technologies. PAL can, even though the technology is terminated, be found here, as a historical form that newer technologies inherited and appropriated.
The Angel also realizes that the new technologies that have taken over PAL are differently yet similarly flawed as PAL.

Part I of the Measurement series; displaying approximate measurements in video space in reference to Mel Bochner's 1969 piece, Measurement: Shadow.

The Measurements were about occupying real space and yet seeing it as an idea... In these installations you experience the physical space of the room and you experience a conception of that space... That led to certain theoretical questions...how can the space, or how can the world, contain an idea about itself? How can the two things overlap? Where are the boundaries?” -Building a Language, Mel Bochner: 1973-1985

Nuestra percepción como espectadores, dominada por el conocimiento y la aceptación de datos proporcionados por los sentidos puede ser alterada al enfrentarla a hechos, desenlaces y movimientos imprevistos y "anormales". Gravé muestra tres acciones cuyos desenlaces no corresponden al efecto real de la fuerza de gravedad sobre los cuerpos.

En cada una de las acciones busco desestabilizar las nociones construidas alrededor de la fuerza de gravedad, partiendo de tres operaciones de edición digital: ralentización, detención y rotación de la imagen. Manipulación digital del video para resignificar y ampliar elementos de la realidad ante los que pasamos desapercibidos (la caída un globo de aire, la inclinación del suelo que pisamos o la manera en que rebota un balón) proyectando las posibilidades seonsoriales del cuerpo  más allá de su estricta gravitación.

I wake to the sound of wind bending glass near my head. I tell myself the glass is strong. It won't shatter. And roll over. The sound of wind, rain, more wind. There's shopping to be done. Itry to make a list: eggs, milk, cheese, cream...but if it was just up to me I wouldn't go out on days like this...You say: i like walking with you. I say: i like walking alone. (because it's the truth) You say: you're kinda being a bitch. And I am, and I know it, and so I stop...

I spent an afternoon at the Taipei train station with my i-phone. It was a slow, leisurely afternoon for me, but not for the people who had places to go. I love having the luxury of being stationary in a place where everyone else is compelled to move.

This is a little animation I made using my i-phone, a gag software called Hipstamatic and FCP. The music is by Kevin McLeod of Incompetech.com.

A esos textos los rotulo, sobre diversos soporte, para instalarlos en espacios públicos, propiciando el encuentro ocasional con quienes transitan por dichos lugares.

El objetivo de Sincita es tomar prestado formas y textos producidos para internet e instralarlos el mundo físico generando nuevos sentidos.

As the map builds, the cohesiveness and accuracy of the map declines until it begins falling out of the tightly framed shot. The hands persist until the map falls out of the frame.
